How do I set up Outlook to get my Bell Sympatico emails? (POP3 or SMTP)

To configure a Bell Sympatico Email Account in Microsoft Office Outlook.

  1. Launch Microsoft Office Outlook
  2. Click Tools on the top menu and click Account Settings.
  3. Select the E-mail tab, and then click New.
  4. Enter the Bell Sympatico email settings as follows:
    Your Name
    Your email address
    Account type : POP3
    Incoming Mail server : pophm.sympatico.ca
    Outgoing Mail server : smtphm.sympatico.ca
    User Name : Your full Sympatico email address (including @sympatico.ca)
    Password : Your email password
    Enter Next to finish the process.
  5. Click on Outgoing Server tab and check “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”.
  6. Click on the Advanced tab and change the port number of Incoming server (POP3) to 995.
  7. Check mark beside “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)”. Change the port number of Outgoing server (SMTP) to 25 (or 587 if 25 does not work)
  8. Authentication required: Yes
  9. TLS/SSL requried: Yes (Select STARTTLS or TLS or AUTO, if not, select SSL)
  10. Click Finish

Note: This instruction should be fairly similar for Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2019 (Office 365).
